Beginner Program

This program is predominantly based down on the Muizenberg Beach front which is perfect for anyone who wants to learn how surf - whether it's for the first time or to improve on ones skills. You will be given 3 lessons/week by The Surf Emporium and have unlimited Equipment Rental for days that you would like to do some Free Surfing and practice your skills. These lessons include a surf instructor, your equipment (surfboard & wetsuit) as well transport to and from the beach. You will learn how to stand up on your surfboard; how to paddle and balance on your board; how to read waves and the relevant weather patterns that effect the waves; surf etiquette; how to read wave charts; and all about different surfboard shapes & Design. A good end goal to have by end of 5 weeks - is to be able to surf a wave going either left or right along the face of the wave.

Intermediate & Surf Guiding Program

You will start your program down at Muizenberg beach, so that your surf coaches can assess your current skills. Once you have shown confidence & capability in the waves, you will be assisted with surf guiding as you explore and learn how to surf other breaks around Cape Town. If you have done at least 5 Weeks of the Beginner Surf Program, then you may be eligible to advance to the Intermediate, should our find that you are capable of doing so.
For the Intermediate Program you should have your own surf equipment (board & 4-3ml wetsuit) in order to travel to other surf spots. However if you don't already have this equipment, we can assist you with either purchasing while you are here - or we can add Equipment Rental into your package. You will have a surf guide - a local surfer who knows the surf spots to transport you and guide you in the water as your learn how to surf a variety of different waves. A Surfboard Building Workshop is a fantastic addition to this Program and will advance your knowledge & understanding of the craft. Various Surf Trips and Surfari's are available & must do's with this Program as you explore South Africa's abundant coastline of world class breaks.
